By ICC TEAM - Aug 01, 2017 12:00 AM

Myself Sugriv Dhaurkadas Shinde, staying at Mazalwadi Village, Dist. Beed, (MH). I stay in a village whosepopulation is about 1000 and nearly 200 families belong to the farmingcommunity. I am 27 years farmer and did my 12th. My father is doing farmingfrom 30-40years together but the type of farming was a traditional one. Aftermy educational carrier, I had decided to help my father and to do the farmingin a better way. I am having 5 acres of land, in which we use 5 acres of landfor growing cotton.

Last year Cotton was the main crop grown and thevarieties used were Ajeet-155.Although the conditions were not that suitablefor cotton crop but still I could get a yield of 7 to 8 q/acre. Other farmersobtained less yield due to local seed varieties used by them. This year also Iwill be using Ajeet-155 and I am planning to have distance of 4.00ft x 2.00ft.In the month of June end sowing of seeds is completed on 5 acres of land. For 5 acres of land 300kg of Urea Rs.1600/-,600kg of 24:24:00 Rs.4250/- and15kg of Magnesium Sulphate Rs.150 was used. Seed packets of Rs 750/800, 4.5/5packets used in 5-acre land. Method of drip irrigation was used and as per thesources there is enough water in tube well for sowing process. Plucking chargesis of around Rs. 5/6 per kg, total costing form farming in 1acre is Aprox Rs 15000/-peracre.

*IF RAINS ARE THERE ON TIME AND NO DAMAGE TO CROPWITH BETTER YIELD,FARMERSARE EXPECTING PRICES OF RS 6000/- TO 6500/- PER QTLSAME AS LAST YEAR.

*IF THE RAINS ARE DELAYED AND YIELD IS LESS FARMERSARE EXPECTINGRS.6500/- TO 7000/- AND ABOVE DURING PERIOD OF OCT / NOV &DEC.
