By ICC TEAM - Jul 25, 2017 12:00 AM

Myself Satish Sudhakar Palkutwar, staying at vasantnagar (Poharadevi) Village, Dist.: Washim, (MH). I stay in avillage whose population is about 1200 and nearly 300 families belong to thefarming community. I am 50 years old farmer and did my 12th. My father used todo farming from years together but the type of farming was a traditional one,to do the farming in a better way I enhanced new techniques of farming. I amhaving 20 acres of land, in which we use 7 acres of land for growing cotton,6acres of land for growing soyabean and on balance 7 acres another crop like tur.

Last year Cotton was the main cropgrown and the varieties used were Kaveri, Green gold. Although the conditionswere not that suitable for cotton crop but still I could get a yield of 8 to 9-q/acre.Other farmers obtained less yield due to local seed varieties used by them. From the past two years I am also cultivating soyabean on a commercial basis. This year also I will be using Kaveri, Green gold and I am planning to havedistance of 5.00ft x 1.00ft because to have better yield as well as to sowcereals on the same field. In the month of June end sowing of seeds will becompleted on 7 acres of land. For 7 acres of land 350kg of 10:26:26 costingRs.8050/-, 350kg 14:35:14 is Rs.7840/- and 350kg of Urea is Rs. 4480/- wasused. Seed packets of Rs. 750/800, 14/15 packets used in 7-acre land. Method of drip irrigation was used and as per the sources there isenough water in tube well for sowing process. Plucking charges is of around Rs6/7 per kg, total costing form farming in 1acre is Approx. Rs 15000/-per acre.

Price expectation:

*IF RAINS ARE THEREON TIME AND NO DAMAGE TO CROP WITH BETTER YIELD, FARMERS ARE EXPECTING PRICESOF RS 4500/- TO 5000/- PER QTL SAME AS LAST YEAR.

*IF THE RAINS AREDELAYED AND YIELD IS LESS FARMERS ARE EXPECTING RS. 5500/- to 6000/- AND ABOVEDURING PERIOD OF OCT / NOV & DEC.
