Udaipur.Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Dr. Ajit Karnataka said that today our country is self-sufficient as a result of continuous research and development in the field of food grains. Otherwise, there was a time when the countrymen eagerly waited for red wheat imported from outside. Karnataka was giving this information in a press conference organized at the Directorate of Research on Sunday. He said that agricultural scientists worked day and night and this year India has produced a record 112 million tonnes of wheat. He said that now the challenge is to maintain wheat production in the changing weather cycle. Because a sudden increase in temperature at the time of grain formation in wheat not only shrinks the grain but also adversely affects the production. Along with this, the scientists of the country and the world are now working in this direction to prepare varieties of wheat and barley which ripen in a short period. Along with the gluten present in wheat, the availability of proteins like iron and zinc should be abundant. Along with this, wheat can become popular as a complete diet. Varieties of wheat in changing weather cycle D.B. W. 327, 303 and 187 are very effective. Also, Raj- 4037, Raj- 4079 and Raj- 4238 varieties are quite suitable for Rajasthan. Apart from this, agricultural scientists have also given meaningful results in barley production. Because there is a lot of demand for it in the alcohol industry and farmers also get good profits. 327, 303 and 187 are very effective.
